Why Little Red for my child, there are so many options in preschool?
That is such a big question, but one I would love to answer. When I first began the journey of opening a preschool over ten years ago, I began from a different mindset then most people who were starting their own business begin from. My ideals were grown from my experience as an educator as well as being a mother of a child with a speech impairment. I spent so much time looking at preschools for my child when I realized something, everyone does things exactly the same way. School tour after school tour I was left without inspiration or encouragement that my child would be respected for their individuality. I felt this was not in line with the way preschool should be and that is where Little Red was born.
When I make decisions for our school, they come from both the point of view as a mother and educator. My philosophies regarding young children do not fall in one particular pedagogy but rather in a simple statement, "Children are to be happy if we want them to learn and children need the proper positive environment to thrive." In watching many preschools do everything the same way, I learned that differences are what make you shine, what set you apart from the others.
To that end, we do things differently here. We respect each child's learning style and milestones by placing them in small groups, no one size fits all learning here, from gifted children to children who need extra help, I care about your children. Nothing makes me happier than watching them succeed and I know, in order to do that, we must have a safe, loving and worry free environment. Together, with the help of my outstanding staff, this is what Little Red is all about, your children.
Not a franchise, but rather a woman owned, local and small business, I could not do it without the wonderful community I am surrounded by.
Katie has been here with us for just over 8 years. She began her journey with us as a teaching assistant and then a lead teacher. After years of working with families and in the classroom, she is now our assistant director. A skilled educator with a CDA and working to obtain her ECE degree, she is a wonderful, kind and engaging educator.
Ms. Victoria has been here with us for about 7 years. In her time here, she began as a teaching assistant and then a lead teacher. She now balances being a head teacher as well as some directorial duties within her classroom. Another skilled educator, Victoria is finishing up her tri-certification masters degree in ECE and teaching. Victoria is an engaged, enthusiastic & imaginative educator.
Ms. Sam has been with our school for about 5 years. During her time here, she spent the past three years as a teaching assistant and the last two years as a head teacher. Sam is fun, gentle and very interested in respecting the individual boundaries that often dictate a child's interest in learning. Sam is currently working on finishing up her masters in education.
Our playground is just too much fun to only show you a pic. Enjoy this great video!
